Around 6:30, they noticed the baby's heartrate was losing it's variability, and they thought it might be related to me getting dehydrated. They hooked up an IV to give me more fluids. Before long, I was again in misery from a full bladder. I tried to empty it but was unsuccessful and not allowed to remain on the toilet for any longer. My bladder remained full for the rest of labor, though I admit I tried to empty it many times while lying in bed just to spite the nurse!
