Because of my exhaustion, I only caught one or two things the doctor had said. I was also in shock at the prospect of having a c-section. We'd talked about the possibility before, but had received no indication that it might be necessary and every reassurance that I could have this baby naturally...without drugs, and certainly without major surgery! When Joe and I were alone, I asked him what he thought, since both of us knew I was really in no condition to make the decision, especially since I didn't want to go through surgery. He told me he thought we ought to go ahead and let them do the Cesarian. I said, "OK, let's do it." I was completely trusting his judgment, and looking back, we are sure it was the right decision.
